Baseball Recap: Youngker Find Success

Youngker posted their closest win since March 29, 2024 on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Paradise Valley Trojans 5-3. The win continues a trend for the Roughriders in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won three in a row.

Youngker saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Grado, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Grado is becoming a predictor of Youngker's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Riley Carteno also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Youngker now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Paradise Valley, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Looking ahead, Youngker will square off against La Joya Community at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. La Joya Community will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Youngker surely won't give up without a fight. As for Paradise Valley, they will head out to take on North at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
