Basketball Recap: Alturas Prep Takes a Loss

Alturas Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Watersprings, falling 26-2. The Pumas were not able to make up for their loss to Watersprings from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Watersprings to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caroline Combs, who posted three points along with ten boards, seven assists, and four steals. The dominant performance gave Combs a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Bri Williams, who put up seven points and five boards.

Alturas Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Watersprings, their record is now 2-3.

Alturas Prep will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on North Gem at 5:30 p.m. on December 17th. As for Watersprings, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 49-29 defeat against Salmon on the 7th.
