Softball Recap: Horseshoe Bend Mustangs vs. Wilder Wildcats
Horseshoe Bend extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 4-12 in the process. They lost 11-4 to the Wilder Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, with their most recent defeat being a 11-6 loss back in April.
Vilate Wilson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinity Catherman, who went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs.
As for Wilder, their record is now 8-11. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by seven runs or more this season.
On Wilder's side, N. Escutia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Escutia was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, M. Lopez was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. A. Fogg also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.
Horseshoe Bend does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wilder, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 18-17 loss against Idaho City on the 9th.
