Softball Preview: Bexley Lions vs. Bishop Ready Silver Knights
The Bexley Lions will head out to challenge the Bishop Ready Silver Knights at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Bexley will be strutting in after a victory while Bishop Ready will be coming in after a loss.
While Bexley's win against Franklin Heights wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over the Falcons on Monday. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Isla Haffner, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Kayla Duffee also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Bishop Ready was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Buckeye Valley. The Silver Knights haven't had much luck with the Barons recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Bishop Ready's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Bexley, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-10.
Bexley took their win against Bishop Ready in their previous meeting on April 4th by a conclusive 15-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
