Basketball Recap: Hargrave Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Hargrave hadn't done well against Tarkington recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Hargrave Falcons enjoyed a cozy 47-32 victory over the Tarkington Longhorns. For the Falcons, this counts as revenge for the 48-32 win the Longhorns walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2020.

Despite the defeat, Tarkington saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Layla Watson dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds. Watson is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least 13 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Monica Rodriguez, who posted nine points.

Hargrave's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-16. As for Tarkington, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-12.

Hargrave wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 61-54 loss against Hamshire-Fannett on the 14th. As for Tarkington, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 44-35 win against Livingston on the 14th.
