Football Recap: Marvell Academy Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Tunica Academy

Marvell Academy is ranked highly in their home state and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Tunica Academy. The matchup between the Eagles and the Blue Devils didn't end well, with the Eagles falling 42-26. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Blue Devils recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Despite the loss, Marvell Academy still got an impressive performance from Jorden Miller, who rushed for 122 yards and three scores on only ten carries. The Eagles are 2-1 when Miller posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise. Sawyer Roth also helped out as he racked up 105 rushing yards.

The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 4-4. As for Tunica Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.

Looking ahead, Marvell Academy will face off against DeSoto at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Thunderbirds have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games. As for Tunica Academy, they will square off against Lee Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
