On Friday, Howell Central faced Howell in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Howell Central Spartans received a blow as they fell 49-31 to the Howell Vikings. The Spartans' defeat signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak dating back to last season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Howell Central fell to 7-1. As for Howell, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
