Recap: Silex Owls vs. North Callaway Thunderbirds
The Silex Owls fought the good fight in their overtime match against the North Callaway Thunderbirds on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 66-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Thunderbirds. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Callaway to victory, but perhaps none more so than Abrielle Burgher, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Burgher has scored all season. Lakyn Hartley was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Silex's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for North Callaway, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Silex's road trip will continue as they head out to face Mark Twain at 5:30 p.m. on January 29th. Mark Twain is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home. As for North Callaway, they will head out on the road to challenge Wellsville-Middletown at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
