Basketball Recap: Cheyenne Wells Victorious

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Cheyenne Wells had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 50-37 win over the Sierra Grande Panthers. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

Paige Ryser continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 24 points and 12 steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last 21 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Roxy Unruh, who posted eight points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Cheyenne Wells was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They are 13-4 when they've passed the ball that well.

Sierra Grande lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jaylyn Quezada, who scored 13 points and five steals. She has become a key player for Sierra Grande: the team is 11-2 when she posts at least five steals, but 3-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Eneria Quintana, who earned 12 points and four steals.

Cheyenne Wells' win bumped their record up to 15-8. As for Sierra Grande, their loss dropped their record down to 14-10.

Cheyenne Wells has already played their next matchup, a 45-28 defeat against Fleming on the 8th. Sierra Grande does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
