Softball Recap: ROWVA/Williamsfield Comes Up Short

ROWVA/Williamsfield extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 10-16 in the process. They came up short against the Biggsville West Central Heat, falling 17-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Heat this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 on Saturday.

As for Biggsville West Central, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 23-3. The result was nothing new for the Heat, who have now won 19 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

For Biggsville West Central's part, Miley Stimpson was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Stimpson has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Becca Hinshaw and Kaylee Mills did most of the damage at the plate: Hinshaw went 4-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Mills got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs Mills has posted over her last four games. Lily Higgins was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Looking ahead, ROWVA/Williamsfield will face off against Monmouth United at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars are facing the Red Storm at the right time seeing as the Red Storm are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Biggsville West Central, they are taking a road trip to challenge Galva at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.94 runs per game on average), something the Heat will no doubt try to take advantage of.
