Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Greenville

Greenville barely beat Yazoo City the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hornets put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 8-1 win on Thursday. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

William Arrington spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kaleb Titus, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Greenville is 2-1 when Titus posts two or more stolen bases, but 8-10 otherwise. Quintarus Winters was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

Greenville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Greenville pushed their record up to 10-11 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Yazoo City, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.
