Preview: Southeast Whitfield County Raiders vs. Cedartown Bulldogs
Southeast Whitfield County is 0-3 against Cedartown since September of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Southeast Whitfield County Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cedartown Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Southeast Whitfield County is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home.
Southeast Whitfield County fell victim to Central's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Lions on the road and fell 61-0. While losing is never fun, Southeast Whitfield County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 425th, while Central is ranked 55th).
Meanwhile, Cedartown got themselves on the board against Sonoraville on Friday, but Sonoraville never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Phoenix 45-0 at home. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Cedartown had established a 38 point advantage.
Cedartown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tae Harris led the charge by rushing for 56 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, while also picking up 37 receiving yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Ledbetter, who threw for 140 yards and three touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes.
Southeast Whitfield County's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Cedartown, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Southeast Whitfield County was dealt a bruising 48-14 loss at the hands of Cedartown in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Will Southeast Whitfield County have more luck at home instead of on the road?
