Baseball Game Preview: Lejeune Devil Pups vs. Southside Seahawks

Lejeune hasn't had much luck against Southside recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Devil Pups will challenge the Seahawks at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Lejeune fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against White Oak on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 8-7. The Devil Pups' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Lejeune saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin James, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. Evan Velez was another, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Southside didn't have quite enough to beat Jones last Thursday and fell 11-10.

Lejeune's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Southside, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Lejeune couldn't quite finish off Southside in their previous meeting on April 8th and fell 12-10. Can the Devil Pups avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
