Softball Game Preview: Carlin Railroaders vs. Smith Valley Bulldogs

The Carlin Railroaders will square off against the Smith Valley Bulldogs at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Carlin will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Carlin is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Eureka with a sharp 34-21 win on Tuesday. The Railroaders haven't had any issues with the Vandals recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Adian Adams was a standout: she got on base in all seven of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, five runs, and five RBI. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Ramirez, who scored five runs and stole four bases while going 5-for-8.

Carlin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .382 or higher in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Smith Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch back in March as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Virginia City, falling 23-15. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game back in March (ten), the Bulldogs still had to take the loss.

Smith Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Carlin, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
