Baseball Recap: Imagine Prep Coolidge Comes Up Short

Imagine Prep Coolidge had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-10 to make it five. They came up short against the Heritage Academy Gateway Heroes, falling 14-1. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly 13 runs.

As for Heritage Academy Gateway, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.

For Heritage Academy Gateway's part, Maxwell Withers made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Withers was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Heritage Academy Gateway's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 2-3-1 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tyler Lines, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Heritage Academy Gateway is 3-1 when Lines posts two or more runs, but 2-3-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Nolen Holliday, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.
