Softball Recap: St. Marys Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Marys). They blew past the Redbank Valley Bulldogs 13-1 on Wednesday. Considering the Flying Dutch have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Avery Eckels was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Molly Hanslovan, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylen Eozzo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

St. Marys' win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Redbank Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.

Coming up, St. Marys will host Clearfield at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Redbank Valley, they will head out on the road to challenge Karns City at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
