Preview: San Augustine Wolves vs. Woden Eagles
The San Augustine Wolves will be playing in front of their home fans against the Woden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with San Augustine sitting on four straight wins and Woden on three.
San Augustine posted their biggest victory yet this season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Colmesneil 66-17 at home. Given San Augustine's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 710th, while Colmesneil is ranked 1696th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
San Augustine can attribute much of their success to D'Adrian Renfro, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals, and Joshua Roland, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Demarion "Lil Man" Teagle was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Woden didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Broaddus on Friday, but they still walked away with a 41-36 win.
The win got San Augustine back to even at 8-8. As for Woden, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-12.
San Augustine came up short against Woden when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 46-38. Can San Augustine avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
