Softball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Tanque Verde's 12th in Last 13 Outings

Tanque Verde came out on top against Safford on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run sixth inning. The Hawks blew past the Bulldogs 11-0. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won 16 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Not much got past Julia Pratt, who gave up just two hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Safford off the board. Pratt has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Remi Johnson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Cantalicio, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Tanque Verde was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Safford only posted a batting average of .105.

Tanque Verde has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Safford, their loss dropped their record down to 11-11.

Coming up, Tanque Verde will welcome Empire at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Ravens will roll in looking for their 23rd straight win, something the Hawks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Safford, they will head out on the road to take on Desert Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
