Softball Recap: Covenant Day's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Ten

Covenant Day had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Wednesday. They blew past the Providence Day Chargers 8-2. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.

Avery Houseton was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple. Kaitlyn Allen was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Covenant Day pushed their record up to 12-1-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Providence Day, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Covenant Day will welcome Charlotte Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lions 3, the Knights 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Providence Day, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Charlotte Country Day School at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Buccaneers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.57 runs per game on average), something the Chargers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
