Football Game Preview: Chester Yellowjackets vs. Maroa-Forsyth Trojans

Two dominant signal callers in Trayton Peters and Ryne Sheppard are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Chester Yellowjackets will square off against the Maroa-Forsyth Trojans at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Chester is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.

Chester challenged Nashville in a bug-themed battle on Friday. The Yellowjackets came out on top against the Hornets by a score of 29-19.

Chester's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Tashawn Palacio, who picked up 106 receiving yards and one score, and Alex Blechle, who gained 116 total yards. Blechle didn't just play on offense: he also forced one fumble and made six total tackles.

Chester didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Palacio and Player #2. Player #2 got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Maroa-Forsyth gave up the first points on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 44-34 victory over New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly. The win almost wasn't to be: the Trojans were down 28-8 in the second quarter.

The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Sheppard and Brady Crews. Sheppard had a great game and threw for 223 yards and four TDs on only 19 passes. Meanwhile, Crews was balling out in the loss, rushing for 185 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries.

Chester's record is now 8-1. As for Maroa-Forsyth, their record now sits at 7-2.

The upcoming matchup will be a clash of competing strengths. Chester has deployed a run-first offense that has averaged 165 rushing yards a game. Meanwhile, Maroa-Forsyth has preferred to attack from the air: they average 284.8 passing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Saturday? There's only one way to find out.

Chester suffered a grim 28-7 defeat to Maroa-Forsyth in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Yellowjackets were down 21-0.
