Soccer Game Preview: El Segundo vs. Bishop Amat

The El Segundo Eagles will head out to challenge the Bishop Amat Lancers at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with El Segundo sitting on three straight wins and Bishop Amat on 18.

El Segundo is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over Cate. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Rams are ranked 72nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, it may have taken extra minutes to finish the job, but Bishop Amat ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They won by a goal and slipped past Cathedral 2-1.

Michael Luna and Eduardo Jr Moreno scored both of Bishop Amat's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 19 goals.

El Segundo's win bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Bishop Amat, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 26-2.
