Basketball Recap: Croatan Beats Swansboro for Their Third Straight Win

Croatan had won two straight games and Neely McMannen did her part to make it three on Tuesday. The Croatan Cougars came out on top against the Swansboro Pirates by a score of 52-43 thanks in part to McMannen, who went 6 of 14 en route to 20 points and five steals. Her evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Leah Johnson was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to five rebounds and three blocks. She is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted three or more in the last three games she's played.

Swansboro's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Addison King, who went 6 for 13 on her way to 16 points and six boards, and Kendall Hackworth, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Brady, who posted six points and six boards.

Croatan's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Swansboro, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-5.

Croatan will challenge Dixon at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Croatan is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53 points per game this season. As for Swansboro, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-24 victory against Richlands on the 29th.
