Softball Recap: Westerly Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Prout

Westerly faced Prout in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 6-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Crusaders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-3 back in April.

Isabella Austin made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Westerly and nudges their season record down to 10-9. As for Prout, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6.

Westerly wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 8-2 defeat against Chariho on the 18th. As for Prout, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-3 victory against Ponaganset on the 18th.
