Baseball Recap: Pima Comes Up Short

Pima entered their match against Chandler Prep on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Pima fell just short of Chandler Prep by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Roughriders have suffered since May 3, 2024.

Rhett Hughes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

This is the second loss in a row for Pima and nudges their season record down to 3-5-1. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Chandler Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
