Softball Recap: Hope Christian's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

It was a good run, but Hope Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Belen Eagles by a score of 4-3. The Huskies were not able to make up for their defeat to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in March of 2022.

Iliana Cordova was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Cordova wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ava Jimenez, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Hope Christian's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Belen, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-8.

Hope Christian didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 19-2 victory against Socorro on the 29th. As for Belen, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 14-4 win against Moriarty on the 29th.
