Recap: Curtis Baptist Crusaders vs. Aquinas Fightin' Irish
On Saturday, Curtis Baptist was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 42-38 to Aquinas. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Curtis Baptist came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while Aquinas is ranked 288th).
Curtis Baptist's loss came despite strong showings from Maci Butler and Nyla Robinson . Butler scored 17 points along with six rebounds and six steals, while Robinson scored seven points along with five rebounds and three steals. The match was Butler's fifth in a row with at least ten points.
This is the second loss in a row for Curtis Baptist and nudges their season record down to 7-5-1. As for Aquinas, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-6.
Curtis Baptist will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against South Aiken Baptist Christian at 6:45 p.m. on January 8th. Aquinas and Greene County will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
