Basketball Game Preview: Gibault Catholic Hawks vs. Waterloo Bulldogs

Gibault Catholic and Waterloo are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Gibault Catholic Hawks will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against the Waterloo Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Last Tuesday, Gibault Catholic came up short against New Athens and fell 61-53. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 396th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 175th).

Meanwhile, Waterloo entered their tilt with Mascoutah on Friday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They came out on top against the Indians by a score of 50-39.

Waterloo's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Gibault Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Gibault Catholic was able to grind out a solid win over Waterloo in their previous matchup back in February, winning 48-41. Does Gibault Catholic have another victory up their sleeve, or will Waterloo turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
