Soccer Recap: Smithville Comes Up Short

Smithville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Caldwell Hornets. One thing that didn't help the Tigers' chances was the red card they were dealt courtesy of Juan Rodriguez.

Miguel Esparsa wasn't going to let Caldwell walk away unscathed as he scored both of Smithville's goals, bringing his season total up to three goals.

Smithville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-17-1. As for Caldwell, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-15-1.

Looking ahead, Smithville will square off against La Grange at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Caldwell does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
