Volleyball Game Preview: Wagner Red Raiders vs. Winner Warriors

The Wagner Red Raiders will face off against the Winner Warriors on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Wagner is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Mt. Vernon/Plankinton 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Red Raiders in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won three in a row.

Wagner wouldn't go down easily and took Mt. Vernon/Plankinton into a fifth set where they got it done with a 12-point win. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-20, 25-15, 24-26, 15-3.

Winner not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since October 14th (when they won 3-0). They put the hurt on Pine Ridge with a sharp 3-0 victory.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-10, 25-19.

Winner's win bumped their record up to 25-6. As for Wagner, their victory bumped their record up to 23-7.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's match: Wagner has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.2 aces per game. However, it's not like Winner struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.5 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Wagner came up short against Winner in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 2-0. Can the Red Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
