Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Dunkirk walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lewiston-Porter Lancers on Thursday, sneaking past 2-1. The win was familiar territory for the Marauders, who have now won five matchups in a row.

Greg Orcutt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dunkirk's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Thomas Shaffer, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. That's the most hits Shaffer has posted since back in May of 2024.

Dunkirk's win bumped their record up to 19-3. As for Lewiston-Porter, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-9.

Dunkirk didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 18-0 defeat against Amherst Central on the 31st. Lewiston-Porter does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
