Recap: Bartow Yellow Jackets vs. Victory Christian Academy Storm
After a string of three wins, the Bartow Yellow Jackets's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 65-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Victory Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, Bartow can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while Victory Christian Academy is ranked seventh).
Loss or not, Bartow got some senior leadership from Edward Wiggins and Daniel Thompson. Wiggins scored nine points along with six rebounds, while Thompson. scored nine points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jemirion Butler, who scored nine points.
Bartow's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-9. As for Victory Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.
Bartow will head out on the road to face off against Lake Wales at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lake Wales has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 313 points over their last five games. As for Victory Christian Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Sports Leadership & Management at 7:30 p.m. Sports Leadership & Management has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
