Football Game Preview: Alameda Hornets vs. Arroyo Dons

The Alameda Hornets will head out on the road to square off against the Arroyo Dons at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Alameda sitting on seven straight wins and Arroyo on four.

On Friday, everything came up roses for Alameda against Mt. Eden as the squad secured a 40-6 victory. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won five games by 24 points or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Arroyo's strategy against Encinal on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Dons blew the Jets out of the water with a 48-0 final score. That 48 point margin sets a new team best for the Dons this season.

Alameda better focus on containing Joseph Estes and Robert Mcgehee as the pair were huge in Arroyo's win. Estes rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, while Mcgehee gained 115 total yards and two touchdowns.

Alameda's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Arroyo, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Everything came up roses for Alameda against Arroyo in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 30-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
