Basketball Game Preview: Delaware County Christian Knights vs. Renaissance Academy Knights

Delaware County Christian is 3-0 against Renaissance Academy since December of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Delaware County Christian Knights will square off against the Renaissance Academy Knights at 7:00 p.m. Delaware County Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.6 points per game this season.

Delaware County Christian is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Whitehall just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Saturday. They came up short against the Zephyrs, falling 63-41. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while the Zephyrs are ranked 45th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Khamai Orange, who posted 20 points and five rebounds. His evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Laverne Sambola, who had six points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Delaware County Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Renaissance Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch two weeks ago as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a blow against Faith Christian Academy, falling 79-45.

Having lost for the first time this season, Delaware County Christian fell to 7-1. As for Renaissance Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Everything came up roses for Delaware County Christian against Renaissance Academy when the teams last played back in January, as the squad secured a 62-26 win. In that game, Delaware County Christian amassed a halftime lead of 39-12, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
