Softball Recap: Menominee Comes Up Short

Menominee had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-5 to make it nine. They came up short against the Coleman Cougars, falling 10-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Maroons of the 16-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.

As for Coleman, they now have a winning record of 4-3. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

For Coleman's part, the team relied heavily on Alyssa Kurth, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Kurth has posted since back in May of 2024. Annabell Markiewicz was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Menominee will host Calumet at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Coleman, they are taking a road trip to square off against Hancock at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
