Softball Game Preview: Archer School for Girls Panthers vs. South Pasadena Tigers

The Archer School for Girls Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the South Pasadena Tigers at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Archer School for Girls is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.2 runs per game this season.

Archer School for Girls is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Providence just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They lost 17-7 to the Pioneers.

Makenzie Hilton was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Emmy Rapp, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last matchup, South Pasadena made sure to put some runs up on the board against San Marino on Wednesday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 10-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won nine in a row.

Lucia Atencio tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, South Pasadena let Brooke Zeisler and Andrea Becerra run wild. Zeisler went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Becerra went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave Becerra a new career-high. Gemma Converse also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

South Pasadena's win bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Archer School for Girls, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-4.
