Basketball Recap: Riverdale Extends Road Winning Streak to Eight

Riverdale had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They snuck past the Galena Pirates with a 52-46 win. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while the Pirates are ranked 297th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Riverdale pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.4 points per game. As for Galena, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-3.

Riverdale will head out to square off against Sherrard at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sherrard will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Riverdale surely won't give up without a fight. As for Galena, they will square off against Cuba City at 6:05 p.m. on Saturday.
