Preview: Summit Tahoma Tigers vs. KIPP Navigate College Prep Tigers
The Summit Tahoma Tigers will play host again and welcome the KIPP Navigate College Prep Tigers, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday. KIPP Navigate College Prep took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Summit Tahoma, who comes in off a win.
Last Tuesday, Summit Tahoma didn't have too much trouble with Latino College Preparatory Academy at home as they won 47-32. The victory was just what Summit Tahoma needed coming off of a 59-32 defeat in their prior matchup.
Summit Tahoma's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Michael Salazar, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of David Pilling, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to KIPP Navigate College Prep, who are still winless after their sixth contest. They took a 42-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Luis Valdez Leadership Academy on Tuesday.
Despite the loss, KIPP Navigate College Prep saw an underclassman step up: Isaiah Hernandez scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hernandez has scored all season. Derrick Tran was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Summit Tahoma now has a winning record of 2-1. As for KIPP Navigate College Prep, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-6.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Summit Tahoma have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 15.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like KIPP Navigate College Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 13.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Summit Tahoma against KIPP Navigate College Prep when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 95-32 win.
