Basketball Recap: Colton-Pierrepont Takes a Loss

If Colton-Pierrepont was riding high fresh off their 61-36 takedown of Salmon River last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Colton-Pierrepont Colts fell 54-45 to the St. Lawrence Central Larries on Monday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Larries this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 51-39 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Colton-Pierrepont lost, don't look at Ty Farns. Despite the final result, he posted ten points and seven steals. That's the most steals Farns has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Owen Peacock, who put up seven points.

Even though they lost, Colton-Pierrepont smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive contests.

Ayden Beach continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for St. Lawrence Central, dropping a double-double with 25 points and ten boards. Beach has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 24 times he's played. Damien Ashley was another key player, going 6 for 14 en route to 14 points and five steals.

Colton-Pierrepont's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for St. Lawrence Central, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Colton-Pierrepont and Chateaugay will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. As for St. Lawrence Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Madrid-Waddington at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Lawrence Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.1 points per game this season.
