Baseball Game Preview: Adna Pirates vs. Ilwaco Fishermen

Adna is on an eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Ilwaco is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Pirates will welcome the Fishermen at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Saturday, Adna made easy work of Onalaska and carried off a 23-1 win.

Beau Miller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Adna got a massive performance out of Danner Hoinowski, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Owen Fagernes, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Adna was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .581. Their batting average was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .409 that Onalaska posted.

Meanwhile, Ilwaco's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Saturday. They never let Ocosta get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Fishermen in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won eight in a row.

Ilwaco's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Adna, their win bumped their record up to 13-0.
