Softball Recap: Seymour Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Win

Seymour waltzed into their match on Monday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They came out on top against the Southern Door Eagles by a score of 10-6. That's two games straight that the Thunder have won by exactly four runs.

Gillian Herrala spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on 13 hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Addison Wery and Aubrey Hartleben did most of the damage at the plate: Wery went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one triple, while Hartleben went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs Wery has posted since back in May of 2024. Lyla Schueler was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Seymour kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Seymour pushed their record up to 13-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Southern Door, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Seymour will venture away from home to challenge Marinette at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Southern Door, they will square off against Winneconne at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
