League recap: Whitaker overpowering for Alliance in past week

Northeastern Buckeye league recap: 5/22/13

Alliance's Michael Whitaker was the best pitcher in Northeastern Buckeye this week. Over the past week, he had one win and seven Ks.

Hunter Cannon was on fire this week, as he led the league with a .583 average with five RBIs. The Aviators went 1-3.

Marlington boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

There were nine hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. Leading the pack was Jacob Begue, who hit .750 by going 3-for-4.

Alliance's Whitaker led the league in strikeouts this week with seven. With 49 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks first in the league.



Whitaker threw a shutout as he led the Aviators to victory over Triway, 4-0, on Monday. He pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out four, while giving up three hits.

Whitaker struck out ten in Alliance's 11-0 win over Springfield on May 14. He gave up two hits and zero runs over five innings of work.
