Baseball Recap: Central Triumphs

Central took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Cranston East, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Knights narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Thunderbolts 8-6. The game was the first time the Knights have beaten the Thunderbolts on their field since May 10, 2019.

Central's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Yadiel Ventura, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs Ventura has posted since back in April.

The win made it two in a row for Central and bumps their season record up to 8-5. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for Cranston East, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central will head out to square off against Toll Gate at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cranston East, they will venture away from home to challenge Mt. Hope at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Thunderbolts are facing the Huskies at the right time seeing as the Huskies are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
