Softball Recap: Hicks Beats Castor for Their Fifth Straight Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Hicks had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They skirted past the Castor Tigers 5-3. The victory was familiar territory for the Pirates, who have now won five matchups in a row.

Courtlyn Dousay spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on two hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Abby Addison, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Maliah Gordy, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Hicks' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Castor, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season.

Hicks has already played their next contest, a 5-3 win against Castor on the 22nd. The Tigers does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
