Preview: Dumas Demons vs. Borger Bulldogs
Dumas is 9-1 against the Bulldogs since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Dumas Demons will be playing at home against the Borger Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Dumas and 19 for the Bulldogs.
Last Friday, Dumas came up short against the Whitefaces and fell 59-48.
Meanwhile, Borger had to suffer through a rough 64-33 loss at the hands of the Harvesters. While losing is never fun, Borger can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1269th, while the Harvesters are ranked 409th).
Borger's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Tahqulin Brooks, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds, and Kaeden Jennings who scored 11 points along with two steals. That was a full 39.4% of Borger's points, marking the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Dumas' defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 17-10. As for Borger, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-22.
Dumas took their win against the Bulldogs in their previous matchup back in January by a conclusive 61-41. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Brooks, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 19 rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Dumas still be able to contain Brooks? There's only one way to find out.
