Clay County proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 14) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Belfry Pirates 5-4. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Alivia Hoskins was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Hoskins was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Hoskins wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Madison Sizemore, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double and one RBI. Ryleigh Chesnut also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Clay County's record now sits at 5-7. As for Belfry, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-7.
