Softball Game Preview: United Christian Academy Eagles vs. Northview Vikings

The United Christian Academy Eagles will take on the Northview Vikings in a tournament on Friday. United Christian Academy will be strutting in after a win while Northview will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with four losses in a row dating back to last season, United Christian Academy turned things around against Upland on Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Highlanders/Scots. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Lariah Avila made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Avila was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Liliana Perez was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Tiffany Sanchez, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Northview's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They lost 15-6 to Roosevelt.

Joy Sanchez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Ochoa, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

United Christian Academy's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Northview, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3-1.
