Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Gabby Stangel and Braelyn Chevalier Lead Kewaunee to Victory

Kewaunee's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Sevastopol Pioneers 3-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Kewaunee was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 11-25, 25-15, 24-26, 25-15, 15-13.

Kewaunee was led to victory by Braelyn Chevalier and Gabby Stangel. Chevalier had 18 digs and four aces, while Stangel had 21 digs. Those 18 digs gave Chevalier a new career-high.

They weren't the only good servers: Kewaunee was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in seven consecutive contests.

Kewaunee's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-5. As for Sevastopol, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-12.

Kewaunee wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Mishicot on the 6th. As for Sevastopol, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Gibraltar on the 7th.
