Basketball Game Preview: Cardozo Judges vs. Francis Lewis Patriots

The Cardozo Judges will challenge the Francis Lewis Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Cardozo has struggled recently with 11 losses in a row, while Francis Lewis will arrive with seven straight victories.

Cardozo came up short against Townsend Harris on Friday, falling 46-24. While losing is never fun, the Judges can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 618th, while the Hawks are ranked 50th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Francis Lewis). They blew past Bayside 63-22 on Friday. The Patriots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 25 points or more this season.

Francis Lewis pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 19.5 points per game. As for Cardozo, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.

Cardozo was taken down by Francis Lewis 53-9 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Cardozo was down 30-4.
