Volleyball Recap: Lincoln-Way East Falls Short Against Ranked Roncalli

Lincoln-Way East is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Roncalli. The Griffins took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Royals. The loss continues a trend for the Griffins in their meetings with the Royals: they've now lost four in a row.

Matthew Muehlnickel paced Lincoln-Way East's offense, picking up five kills. Muehlnickel got some help from Will Hubatch and his nine assists.

Among those leading the charge was Matthew Dial, who had 22 assists and seven digs. He has been hot for a while, having posted 13 or more assists the last 62 times he's played.

Lincoln-Way East's defeat dropped their record down to 21-5. As for Roncalli, the win was the 18th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-3.

Lincoln-Way East didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Franklin Community on the 10th. As for Roncalli, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Marist on the 10th.
