Recap: Trenton Tigers vs. Whitewright Tigers
There's no place like home for The Trenton Tigers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against Whitewright by a score of 41-31 on Friday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Trenton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Micah Wommack, who rushed for 72 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 65 yards and a touchdown while completing 80% of his passes. Wommack is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Colton Gray, who rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown.
Whitewright's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Colt Yancey, who rushed for 54 yards and three touchdowns. Gage Walker was another key contributor, gaining 81 total yards and a touchdown.
Trenton's win bumped their record up to 4-4. As for Whitewright, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Trenton will take on Tioga at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tioga knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Trenton likes a good challenge. As for Whitewright, they will be playing at home against Alvord at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
